Wonderful Surprises and Hows That For Irony?

Well this has been a funny old week.
So far i've had two surprises

If you remember I bought a plunger, all ready for washing and was full of grand plans for making a bucket washing machine, and then a very good friend turns up with this!
 For free!
So that was surprise number one, how's that for ironic? haha :)

The bad news, is that after a look under the sink, we don't actually have the pipe that attaches to the waste trap...which is no surprise in this house!
So, i reported it to the housing association, and am waiting to hear back.
I gave it a try and put the pipe in my washing tub to catch the water!
My goodness it is loud! After going for so long without one, the noise level gave me quite a shock! Especially on the spin cycle.

Surprise number two was this!
A gas cooker! Brought to me by the same friend, it cost only £20!
More bad news is the gas pipe won't fit because when they refurbished the kitchen before we moved in (though you wouldn't know to look at it lol) they built an extra cupboard next to the sink and now the gas pipe won't fit because the gap between the pipe on the wall and the cupboard is too narrow, and also the pipe is capped, so another problem to report to the housing association!
I have beautiful cooker and i can't even cook on it yet :(
But i have lots of ideas for what i'm going to make :)

On a happier note, i made my first French onion soup! Oh my goodness! It was delicious!
I sprinkled cheese on top and made cheese on toast to go with it :)
Yummy!

I also spotted my first ever toadstool on a walk with friends.
Isn't it adorable? :)

I couldn't get a very good picture due to slow shutter speed

What have you been up to?

    1. They replied this morning asking for more details on the gas pipe, why they need more details is beyond me, considering i told them it was capped, there are no more details haha! xx

  4. So happy that you have now a lovely washing machine and a cooker but I am sorry you are unable to use them. I have been with Knightstone housing for 16 years and I have always found them great so hopefully yours will be good to and wont take to long to get them both sorted out for you. dee x

    1. Sadly the washing machine was not to be :( I'll go into more detail on my next post though. Persistence pays off though, they are referring the cooker to their "gas supervisor" to see if he can get the job done! What a palaver! xxx

It's here!

Hear that? That's the sound of a hallelujah chorus playing in celebration  Yup.  You guessed right, a miracle has occurred, the paint has arrived! Six tins of painty fun! Though no wallpaper. And they forgot one of the roller tray sets. But never mind! Because most of it is here and for now that will keep me happy :) We've already started on the top half of the living room, a gorgeous clean white, and the bottom half will be started on next week in Country Blue, i'll do a wee tour when it's finished :) The reason it won't be done until next week is because the plaster needs at least 4 weeks curing before it can be painted on. Irritating when i just want to get on with it lol To keep myself busy i painted my little telephone table   and the basket below is halfway through being painted, i'm waiting for it to dry before i do the next coat. I also painted my "Dresser" and how lovely it looks now :) the paint h...

Garden stuff

Hi guys :) Thank your all your lovely comments about the Bearded Wonder, he is doing wonderfully and has even voluntarily made a new appointment at the doctors (will wonders ever cease?) With the lovely weather we have finally made it out into the garden, and got to work.  There is still so much to do to get it to where we want it but, progress is progress no matter how small :) The Bearded Wonder has dug out the path, and we are going to border it in an attempt at keeping the weeds and grass at bay, and put either gravel or pebbles in the gaps. I have cobbled together a frame, and am going to put down cardboard, newspaper and mulch to block down the weeds, and with any luck by next year it should be diggable, and shall be used for herbs and above ground growing plants such as salads and brassicas etc  We also got a lovely new bed from a friend, so our old Divan bed has had it's fabric sides ripped out and shall be pressed into service as raised bed...

Hello?

*Peers round corner* Hello? Is anyone there? First of all, i would like to apologize for being so long updating here! It's been pretty busy around here, especially in the past month or two, and i have been updating mostly via Instagram.  We discovered that The Bearded Wonder has been having quite big heart issues , so much so that he was initially referred to get a pacemaker fitted, but on the day of his surgery the surgeon decided he was too young for a pacemaker and ended up fitting him with an under the skin monitor instead, which shall be in for 3 years, then he'll be re-assessed to see if a pacemaker is more suitable. He is doing well, and recovering nicely from the surgery. In other news, today is the day that Angus has been in our lives for a whole year! He was so tiny then. Somehow, out of nowhere, he has turned into this really fat, obnoxious fluffball! We are still enjoying going out and about on the bikes, and we are looking fo...
