Easter Gift Swap and Bargains

Hi guys :) I've spent all day in the kitchen today and loved every second of it :) I've picked up a few bargains this week firstly, the most amazing book from a charity shop, full of wonderful recipes, including preserving pickling and home-brewing I found 2 bags of pears , reduced to clear at 29p per bag and 2 bags of pumpkin seed bread mix for 19p each :) I made some rolls with the bread mix and i am happy to report they are delicious! We shall be having some with soup for supper.  I had a funny moment when i put the mix into the bread maker, the lid decided to slam down onto my fingers, and even though it hurt it reminded me so much of the till from Open All Hours i got a fit of the giggles and couldn't stop! It wasn't even all that funny, but that just made me giggle more! Tonight i went back to have a look for more bargains, but i went too early to get anything really cheap and trailed back home with another bread mix, a mixed grain one this...

Beautiful blankets, Gifts and Plum Cordial Recipe

Hi guys! Did you all have a lovely Christmas? Ours was nice and peaceful, apart from when we got a little tipsy, but seeing as we barely drink through the rest of the year it was well deserved! We are still living off turkey,The Bearded Wonder has used up the last of it in some pies and they are in the freezer for when we fancy them. I got some lovely gifts, i got a few books from The Bearded Wonder-exactly what i asked for :)   I got the most beautiful notebook from a knit and natter friend - so beautiful i can't bear to use it haha I got a little money too so i treated myself to some new slippers from the charity shop for the grand sum of £1.79 I also found a gorgeous throw, with a pattern that makes it look quilted- a steal at £1.50 Apparently this is winter  I don't think our village got the message (yes, i know, i've probably jinxed it now) This was the view this morning coming back from the shop. Speaking of shops, i got a grea...

Warm In Winter and Baking Day

Hi guys :) (Yes, I've changed the blog again, it desperately needed a refresh- variety is the spice of life, right?) Well, the snow is here, in case you haven't guessed by looking out of your own windows ;) I had to dive out in the snow this morning to rescue my poor leeks!  As you can see from the photo these were the only ones I managed to save :( I think the  others had decided to go to seed as they hadn't grown any more. Never mind. At least I've grown something rather than nothing :) I really don't like snow that much. It looks pretty, but it's a pain to walk in, as we live at the bottom of a hill, and the shop is on the other side of it! Luckily, we went food shopping yesterday and got everything we'd need for the fortnight, and got last bits and pieces today, so we won't need to leave  the house at all :)   I'll admit it does look very pretty Yesterday i dug out the thick duvet and added an extra blanket as well a...

Hedgehog drama and bed linen love :)

Hi Guys :)  Well, i had quite the shock last Thursday when i found this little guy tangled up in the netting over my leeks! I ran to get to wake up The Bearded Wonder and he cut him free whilst i held him. The poor little soul was caught up so badly some of the netting was really wound tight around his spines. i brought him inside and wrapped him up and popped him in a box and called our local wildlife rescue  http://farplace.org/ I dread to think how long he had been stuck as it had been at least a day and a half since i had last been in the garden :( Wildlife rescue came to collect him that evening and i am happy to report he is doing well, they got the rest of the netting off and he has been eating and drinking :) They are now going to keep him in over winter as he was too small to have survived, so, in a strange way, it was good that he got caught up in the netting. Does that make sense? ha-ha Now, i have a confession to make... i LOVE bed linen!...
