Dashing Through The Snow!

Hi guys! :)  I expect you are wondering how the Coffee Morning went?  It was amazing!  We raised a grand total of £447.00! We held it in aid of  Tabitha's Toys  (click the link for more info), a little girl who sadly had Edwards Syndrome, and her parents set up the charity to provide sensory toys for children with complex disabilities in the north east, free of charge. So the money we raised will go towards more sensory toys and equipment :) Irritatingly, i don't have a record of the day because i completely forgot to pick up my camera before i left :(  But i can say with great certainty it was a success! We sold lots of things we had made, and cakes and of course tea and coffee,  We held two raffles, the community businesses were wonderful and donated a lot of prizes, and first prize was a luxury hamper that the knit and natterers put together, and we raffled off the blanket we made, and guess what?  The winner was one...

Hedgehog drama and bed linen love :)

Hi Guys :)  Well, i had quite the shock last Thursday when i found this little guy tangled up in the netting over my leeks! I ran to get to wake up The Bearded Wonder and he cut him free whilst i held him. The poor little soul was caught up so badly some of the netting was really wound tight around his spines. i brought him inside and wrapped him up and popped him in a box and called our local wildlife rescue  http://farplace.org/ I dread to think how long he had been stuck as it had been at least a day and a half since i had last been in the garden :( Wildlife rescue came to collect him that evening and i am happy to report he is doing well, they got the rest of the netting off and he has been eating and drinking :) They are now going to keep him in over winter as he was too small to have survived, so, in a strange way, it was good that he got caught up in the netting. Does that make sense? ha-ha Now, i have a confession to make... i LOVE bed linen!...

Crochet bunting, Yarn Along And Pretty Flowers

Hi Guys :) This week i am joining in with   Yarn Along for some reason the wee button thing-a-ma-jig won't show up! :/ This was my project yesterday, i painted the wall pink and finally put up my flower canvases, i've had them for a while but didn't know what to do with them, and it occurred to me to make a feature wall out of the! And look how lovely it is! :)  The room instantly looks brighter, but soft at the same time , and it really makes me happy when i see it :) I'm not normally a pink person, but for this i shall make an exception I think the wall may need another coat but i shall do that later. I'm thinking a lovely soft gray for two of the walls on each side I was thinking about crocheting a bunting to go over the mantel and i forgot this one was hanging up on the window   Continuing with the flower theme i made myself a new coaster                               ...

Back to the drawing board!

Hi guys Sadly the washing machine was not to be :(  We put a load on yesterday and it wouldn't do a proper wash, then it decided it didn't want to finish the spin cycle, and as an added bonus it sprung a leak!  That was fun! So we ended up having to take the pipes off and flood the kitchen and almost falling on our backsides in the process, I'm very pleased no one could see us haha :) Then I had to re do all the washing and to cap it all off i couldn't even get it dry outside because this happened!  Oh well, you live and learn, and sometimes get soaked whilst you are doing it :) I'm still awaiting a proper reply about the gas pipe. The "gas supervisor" is going to get in touch apparently. Seriously look at how narrow that gap is! The first time i emailed they tried to fob me off saying it was my responsibility, but the kitchen was re  furbished before we moved in, and clearly someone didn't know how to design a kitchen! 1001 Country Household Hints

Hi guys :) I finally finished my shrug :) i love it! It fits wonderfully and is lovely and warm, though i am going to add a border around the back and shoulders. What have i been up to? Well... First i had the wonderful idea that i wanted to weave something from wicker, haha...yeah that didn't work. I took apart this old basket, soaked the bits in warm water for 24hrs and got started, but...it failed rather miserably. I won't tell you what happened, or what was said... it cannot be repeated in polite company .The wood from the basket shall not go to waste though, i have plans for it, so watch this space! I've been baking some jam thumbprints! They bring so many memories of tea at my great nanas' :)   And some banana brownies! Yummy! I also got my first harvest of rosemary dried and chopped, yay! I have lots of plans for this little herb :)  I planted out the onions, and they are growing well so far (this is an old photo from t...

Gifts, Walks,Puppies and Yarn Along!

Hi guys :) I've finally had time to write this! Everything suddenly seems to have picked up the pace and got going without a by-your-leave! *Takes a breath* I'm taking part in the Yarn Along this week as I've managed to take some time out to crochet myself a little wrap over shrug, this is an earlier photo, as i only have one sleeve to go :)  I'm reading (for probably the hundredth time ) Never Look Back by Lesley Pearse  Blurb from Lesleys' website; (From the slums of Victorian London to a New World ... Matilda Jennings was a poor flower girl in Covent Garden until the day she saved the life of a minister's daughter called Tabitha. Drawn into the bosom of little Tabitha's family, she little realises it will soon mean uprooting her own life. For Matilda leaves Victorian London's slums and heads first for the darkest corners of New York, then beyond into the plains of the Wild West and S...
