Washing Machine , Bike and Hikes :)


Hi guys, sorry it's been a while, this week has been manic!
First of all, we got another washing machine, for free, and it works! Woohoo!
We have to keep it out at the minute so we can hook the pipe over the sink, but that's a minor setback, we can finally wash things without me breaking my back or having builders hands! We will still handwash some things but i'm so pleased!


I also got a bike for free from Freecycle!
It needs minor work to it, mainly a clean up, but other than that, it is in a fairly good condition, now we just have to find one for the hubby and it will save us a fortune in bus fare when we have to go the nearest town (5 miles away)
I plan on finding a cheap pannier rack and pannier bags to put the shopping in.


I also found a pair of walking boots, in almost new condition, i have been wearing them every day haha they are sooo comfy and warm, they will be perfect for long hikes and winter weather


Speaking of hikes, me and some friends did 7 miles about a fortnight ago

And little Hallam, who did ever so well on such a long one. 


This is some our knit and natter group (I'm on the left, with the blue bandanna), we are now starting to add borders to the squares of our community blanket, ready for sewing together! I can't wait to show the finished product, it will be stunning!




In garden news, the leeks are getting much bigger! I must remember to take a photo!
Some of them have been eaten, i have no idea what it could be, so does anyone know of leek pests? and of any effective deterrents?

    Hiya, been wondering what you've been up to, congrats on the washing machine, I still do a bit of hand washing as well, I am not into knitting but glad you have found something you like and it gets you out and about x

    Fantastic news on your washing machine, bike AND boots. I'm sure you'll put them all to very good use. You look to have had great weather on your walks and I'll bet your furry friends had a fabulous time too. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished blanket. X

      As soon as i plugged it in i washed pretty much everything that can be, so i've ran out haha, i'm getting my chance to try out the boots on weds and shall be testing the bike as soon as we find one for the hubby :) I would have walked last week but the weather was awful :( so i'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things :)

    Looks like you hit the jackpot and I am so happy for you :) You are a very busy person and I love seeing all of the things that you do. I also love your new page layout !!! It looks beautiful around where you live and it is so nice to see the scenery of a different country and to have a friend in England <3

      I'm incredibly blessed to have moved to a new place and made so many kind and generous friends :) i love the layout too, so i won't be changing it around for a while haha :)

    Really pleased to see you have a new washing machine it will make your life so much easier :-) Wow your walk looked lovely no wonder the hounds enjoyed it. It could be slugs eating your leeks sometimes you cant see the pesky buggers as there under the ground. Nice to see your sewing group I go to one to :-) have a good week, dee x

      I am too :) as much as i love hand washing i really hate hate hate wringing out! So i won't have builders hands any more, fingers crossed haha :)
      Oooh, i never thought about slugs, i'll have to find some pellets, and eggshells, and any other slug killer i can find! They're my flipping leeks! lol
      I adore my group, they are so lovely, and it gets me out and socializing xx

Adding to the flock- Ex battery hens

Hello! How the time has flown! This Saturday saw us adding two new girls to the flock. Meet Felicity and Penelope. The poor little buggers were so frightened by this strange new world, with fresh air, room to move and dirt to scratch in, but they've soon got used to it and are coming out of their shells. It's here!

Hear that? That's the sound of a hallelujah chorus playing in celebration  Yup.  You guessed right, a miracle has occurred, the paint has arrived! Six tins of painty fun! Though no wallpaper. And they forgot one of the roller tray sets. But never mind! Because most of it is here and for now that will keep me happy :) We've already started on the top half of the living room, a gorgeous clean white, and the bottom half will be started on next week in Country Blue, i'll do a wee tour when it's finished :) The reason it won't be done until next week is because the plaster needs at least 4 weeks curing before it can be painted on. Irritating when i just want to get on with it lol To keep myself busy i painted my little telephone table   and the basket below is halfway through being painted, i'm waiting for it to dry before i do the next coat. I also painted my "Dresser" and how lovely it looks now :) the paint h...

Garden stuff

Hi guys :) Thank your all your lovely comments about the Bearded Wonder, he is doing wonderfully and has even voluntarily made a new appointment at the doctors (will wonders ever cease?) With the lovely weather we have finally made it out into the garden, and got to work.  There is still so much to do to get it to where we want it but, progress is progress no matter how small :) The Bearded Wonder has dug out the path, and we are going to border it in an attempt at keeping the weeds and grass at bay, and put either gravel or pebbles in the gaps. I have cobbled together a frame, and am going to put down cardboard, newspaper and mulch to block down the weeds, and with any luck by next year it should be diggable, and shall be used for herbs and above ground growing plants such as salads and brassicas etc  We also got a lovely new bed from a friend, so our old Divan bed has had it's fabric sides ripped out and shall be pressed into service as raised bed...
