Art Exhibition- Done!

Part One: The Carnage

Hi guys!!
It's finally here! After our lovely volunteers running around all week like headless chickens we can finally let out a sigh of relief. All of the part one photo's were taken on the Thursday.

Now, i'll warn you now, it's chock a block with pictures, so go get a cuppa, settle in and i'll tell all.

(To see bigger photos, just click on the picture you want to see :) )
First, the carnage.

Part Two- The Opening And The Weekend

On Friday we opened the exhibition with the children processing to both churches, along with a samba band
Meanwhile, we were in the background, The Bearded Wonder catered and made soup for everyone (delicious, by the way, we've brought some home!)
We served the soup, hot chocolate and brownies :)

He cooked the soup on Thursday evening, with me as sous chef  (we didn't get home till 12;30!

That handsome face! <3

This morning i was up and about again, at both churches taking photo's etc :)

More wooly goodness, either woven, knitted or crocheted

A whole basket of lovely woollyness! This is Manx Loaghtan , a rare breed sheep, with some beautiful spindles, owned by Louisa, another local smallholder, rent-a-peasant, archaeologist and fibre artist , quite a lot of strings to her bow!

The Blanket!!

After months of hard work from everyone i would like to present to you...

  Our beautiful blanket
To be raffled off at a Coffee Morning Extravaganza, that i shall be going into more detail in another post

The detail and hard work that had gone into this blanket is stunning

The lacy ones are mine (a Victorian lattice square, in case you wanted to know lol :)

 More beautiful artwork

One of the screen printed banners

The second banner

Lots of hands heavily featured in the exhibition

The wind turbines, in a sort of pop art style

I love these ones, by a local artist called Romy.

And lastly, the local faces on display :)

Phew!  All of the hard work has paid off, and my brain has been fried in the process! haha! :)

I realise i have left out some of the artists names, but my brain will not remember them! I'll try and find out tomorrow and add them in :)

So there it is, all done and dusted until Thursday, when we take everything down again.

Hope you liked it! :)

Our Speaker Today

Hi guys :)  I am part of a community growers group, and over the next year or so we are going try and make our village look nicer and have an edible garden and flower beds.  Co Durham council are going to stop planting flowers in the flower beds on our main street, due to budget cuts, so we got the idea of putting things in the beds ourselves, including lots of herbs, and fruit bushes along the green. We want to really bring the community together and get them involved in growing things and generally making the village look nicer.  Yesterday, me and a two other members (and friends of course!) went on a wee jolly to Durham, for the Food Durham Annual Gathering. It is a marvellous initiative called The County Durham Food partnership.More info  here "Launched in May last year, the purpose is to work together for a more equitable, sustainable, fairer food system for County Durham providing access to food that is healthy for people and the planet." Drama!

Hi guys, sorry i haven't been around much this week, i've been a very bad blogging neighbour, but i will try and get around everyone's blogs this evening (This is my new mantra) What a bloody week! First, i was awoken by the Bearded Wonder in the early hours on Sunday morning having chest pains and violently shivering, my poor hubby has a heart murmur, so this was doubly worrying, though i distinctly remember saying "what do you expect me to do about it?" thinking he was just cold (i'm not a great thinker when i've just woken up lol) then grumpily told him to go make me a cup of tea to get his circulation going , then i sort of got my act together, 999 was called and i was instructed to give him 4 aspirin and wait for the ambulance to turn up. They came and checked him over and hooked him up to the heart monitor thingy whilst i rushed about like a headless chicken packing a bag, fully expecting to go to hospital, only to be told...

Bullet Journalling, Seed Preparing And Yarning Along

Hi guys :) The other day, while scrolling through Pinterest, i came across the idea of a  Bullet Journal   The basic idea is to condense everything into one handy little book, if you click the link it will explain it much more succinctly than me. There's a video too :) This is a great journal for me as i can personalize how i like, everything is in one place and this year i may actually manage to be organized! I created my own little planner from an old hard back book that was falling apart I covered it in pretty wallpaper samples and added a pocket to slide in the blank notebook i got for Christmas And added a little cartoon me :) I am following the idea of the bullet journal for the most part, but the beauty of it is you can personalize it exactly to your needs I created a layout that suited me, with morning, afternoon and evening sections and my own little colour code system at the bottom, though this may change depending on if i f...
