Huzzah! A Sock!

Hi Guys :)
Remember my crocheted toe sock?
Well...here it is!

It isn't the prettiest looking sock, but as i used DK yarn it is super cozy and warm!

I've had to sew up a few places where i've dropped stitches, and i can see a few in the photo above that i have missed,  but never mind.
I have to say, once i got started , it was pretty fast to work up, the heel was quite scary as i had never done one before, but it turned out to be pretty easy, i didn't work to a pattern, i  just halved the rows and worked back and forth, slipping a stitch at the start of each row.

In hindsight, i wish i had decreased a few more stitches on the cuff, as it is quite baggy, and added a few extra rows, but i can easily rip it out and add them, so it isn't the be-all and end-all.
I've already started the toe of the next sock and threaded it onto the needles, i did it as soon as i had finished, this way i don't get second sock syndrome haha :)

In garden news, i have planted out the leeks, the poor things won't know what has hit them, it has suddenly turned so windy! We live in a very hilly area, and we are practically on top of one of the hills, so there is very little protection from the wind. I wonder if i can figure something out that will block the wind a little? hmm.. must add it to my to-do list.

What are you up to this week?

Adding to the flock- Ex battery hens

Hello! How the time has flown! This Saturday saw us adding two new girls to the flock. Meet Felicity and Penelope. The poor little buggers were so frightened by this strange new world, with fresh air, room to move and dirt to scratch in, but they've soon got used to it and are coming out of their shells. Felicity is definitely the bolder of the two, and now she's figured everything out she likes to show poor little Penelope who's boss Felicity checking out the dust bath Barbara checking out the roost in the new indoor shelter (formerly a wendyhouse) Felicity stepping out into the sunshine. This afternoon saw me teaching the new girls how to peck at the broccoli i'd hung up for them. Fliss was unimpressed, she'd rather try and eat my engagement ring. The good news is that after a week they are all starting to settle in with each other, and now there is much less squabbling between them and the older girls,...

It's here!

Hear that? That's the sound of a hallelujah chorus playing in celebration  Yup.  You guessed right, a miracle has occurred, the paint has arrived! Six tins of painty fun! Though no wallpaper. And they forgot one of the roller tray sets. But never mind! Because most of it is here and for now that will keep me happy :) We've already started on the top half of the living room, a gorgeous clean white, and the bottom half will be started on next week in Country Blue, i'll do a wee tour when it's finished :) The reason it won't be done until next week is because the plaster needs at least 4 weeks curing before it can be painted on. Irritating when i just want to get on with it lol To keep myself busy i painted my little telephone table   and the basket below is halfway through being painted, i'm waiting for it to dry before i do the next coat. I also painted my "Dresser" and how lovely it looks now :) the paint h...

Hello?

*Peers round corner* Hello? Is anyone there? First of all, i would like to apologize for being so long updating here! It's been pretty busy around here, especially in the past month or two, and i have been updating mostly via Instagram.  We discovered that The Bearded Wonder has been having quite big heart issues , so much so that he was initially referred to get a pacemaker fitted, but on the day of his surgery the surgeon decided he was too young for a pacemaker and ended up fitting him with an under the skin monitor instead, which shall be in for 3 years, then he'll be re-assessed to see if a pacemaker is more suitable. He is doing well, and recovering nicely from the surgery. In other news, today is the day that Angus has been in our lives for a whole year! He was so tiny then. Somehow, out of nowhere, he has turned into this really fat, obnoxious fluffball! We are still enjoying going out and about on the bikes, and we are looking fo...
