Patience Is A Virtue (apparently) A Tour Of The Craft Room

Evening all :)
Sorry for it being so long, this week has completely nuts, I've barely had a chance to breathe!

I've been attempting to organize my craft room. On Monday we finally got a double bed for our room ( we were sleeping on a double mattress on a sofa bed), at a bargain price of £5 :)
So, we had to move the sofa bed into the spare room (that was fun!) and, up until now, the spare room was just used for storage until we got the house sorted.
Let me introduce you to...The craft room! Woohoo!

By the way, this is tidy by my standards!
A lovely squishy sofa to curl up on and draw or read, and the spare duvet in case it gets cold and my knitting machine in the corner .
(by the way, if you ever have the urge to put a knitting machine back in its' case, it is advisable not to! You need a degree in physics!)

My cobbled together drying rack (and the sad looking hand made dress form in the corner) baskets of yarn and my sewing machine.

Ugly Onion kindly holding hooks, needles and scissors.
My "Art bag" hanging on the right for when i want to go outside and paint or draw

Piles of fleece still waiting to be carded and spun

My inspiration board, both of the drawings given to me by a friend, when we were on a course together :) She's so talented!Above them are wee love notes from The Bearded Wonder (Sweet!)

Inspiration and Art wall, i plan on adding more here by artists i admire

And my lovely "Heelian Coo" (Highland cow) Lucy
by the very talented Encaustic Beeswax Artist Janice Bannister

And my new sketchbook, that i spent a very pleasurable evening decorating

And that's it! Very small room but perfect for my needs, i plan on adding many more storage shelves and bookshelves (where i'm going to fit them i do not know! I'll find a way!)

I know, i need to do a garden update, but sadly, there isn't much to report at the moment, as we haven't had much time to work on it. Everything is growing slowly but surely, apart from the courgettes which are literally shooting up! I must remember to take a picture for when i do the update.
Also, thank you for your lovely comments , they do make me smile :) and i'll be doing a blog round tonight and commenting :)

What have you been up to this week?

Our Speaker Today

Hi guys :)  I am part of a community growers group, and over the next year or so we are going try and make our village look nicer and have an edible garden and flower beds.  Co Durham council are going to stop planting flowers in the flower beds on our main street, due to budget cuts, so we got the idea of putting things in the beds ourselves, including lots of herbs, and fruit bushes along the green. We want to really bring the community together and get them involved in growing things and generally making the village look nicer.  Yesterday, me and a two other members (and friends of course!) went on a wee jolly to Durham, for the Food Durham Annual Gathering. It is a marvellous initiative called The County Durham Food partnership.More info  here "Launched in May last year, the purpose is to work together for a more equitable, sustainable, fairer food system for County Durham providing access to food that is healthy for people and the planet." I've got a swimming pool!

Heh. Fooled you didn't i? I wish! but no...i was digging out the garden and found a paddling pool! it's completely wedged in under the soil:( and worst of all The Bearded Wonder won't be back for a while so i can't even ask him to help! I have absolutely no idea how i am going to get it out, i don't know how big it is so can't really dig around it... hmmm.  ~In other happy news i did manage to transplant the parsley and basil, the basil looks slightly worse for wear, it's roots hadn't established as well as the parsley, but never mind, i'm sure it will survive :)  And i took a quick peek at the potatoes, they are starting to grow full roots now so i added another layer of potting soil :)  That's it really... not a lot else to report haha! What are you up to today? :)

DIY Washing Machine, Leeks and Banana Fertilizer

The forecast said it would be fine, Perfect drying for laundry time. Strip the beds, collect the clothes, Into the machine the first wash goes. The colours separated from the white, Why do socks disappear from sight? Pegs at the ready, machine finished spin, Hanging out clothes about to begin. All of a sudden it starts to rain, Carry the clothes back in again. Wait awhile and hope it will stop. Is it worth sorting another lot? Mary Rose Hi guys :) I finally got round to buying a washing machine! Ok, so not in the usual sense of the word. I bought a plunger! We don't own a washing machine, our old one conked out completely before we moved and we can't afford to replace it. So, i do our washing by hand.  It's not a hardship, we don't generate much washing, and we wear most things more than once unless it is stained, and as much as i love it (Much quicker, no electricity, relatively eco friendly) it does take its toll on the hands, e...
