Projects And A Round Up

Hi guys :)
Have you had a nice weekend?
Ours has been pretty  busy, just doing bits and pieces.

Yesterday we went off on a jolly to Durham, and a a beautiful steam engine came down the street while we were waiting for the bus! Isn't it fab? :D

In typical "touristy" fashion we had a peek a the cathedral

In other news..... ta-dah!
I'm knitting!
I went for years being unable to knit, well, slight lie as i could do the knit stitch, but nothing else, and i could never understand the patterns
So, i decided it was high time for me to learn properly!
On Friday i sat myself down, armed myself with needles and yarn and the internet and got learning.
This is how far i have got so far, it's (hopefully) going to be a jumper and i'm doing a mock cable pattern at the same time! It's surprisingly easy (Ooohh get me!)

I'm also starting a crocheted shawl for a friend who's just a baby :)

My carrots are finally sprouting and growing well!
And i also got some lovely freebies! If you go here there will be a link to VegetableSeeds.net and if you have a gardening related blog and link to them, they will give you a £10 gift voucher!

So this is what i got with mine, Leeks, Savoy cabbage, Broccoli, Lavender, Mint, Onions, Aster, Coneflowers and Calendula :)

I'm looking forward to getting everything planted out/ sown, fingers crossed this week!

What are you up to this week?

Don't forget, i'm hosting the next "What's Cooking?" blog hop tomorrow, so feel free to drop by and leave a recipe :)

  2. What a great steam engine! Good luck with the knitting - you will have to come join up with Yarn Along on Wednesdays now! I can't wait to see how you are progressing. I keep saying I will learn crochet on the internet, but just so much other stuff to do. Great about the free seeds - lots of planting coming soon!

Adding to the flock- Ex battery hens

Hello! How the time has flown! This Saturday saw us adding two new girls to the flock. Meet Felicity and Penelope. The poor little buggers were so frightened by this strange new world, with fresh air, room to move and dirt to scratch in, but they've soon got used to it and are coming out of their shells. Felicity is definitely the bolder of the two, and now she's figured everything out she likes to show poor little Penelope who's boss Felicity checking out the dust bath Barbara checking out the roost in the new indoor shelter (formerly a wendyhouse) Felicity stepping out into the sunshine. This afternoon saw me teaching the new girls how to peck at the broccoli i'd hung up for them. Fliss was unimpressed, she'd rather try and eat my engagement ring. The good news is that after a week they are all starting to settle in with each other, and now there is much less squabbling between them and the older girls,...

It's here!

Hear that? That's the sound of a hallelujah chorus playing in celebration  Yup.  You guessed right, a miracle has occurred, the paint has arrived! Six tins of painty fun! Though no wallpaper. And they forgot one of the roller tray sets. But never mind! Because most of it is here and for now that will keep me happy :) We've already started on the top half of the living room, a gorgeous clean white, and the bottom half will be started on next week in Country Blue, i'll do a wee tour when it's finished :) The reason it won't be done until next week is because the plaster needs at least 4 weeks curing before it can be painted on. Irritating when i just want to get on with it lol To keep myself busy i painted my little telephone table   and the basket below is halfway through being painted, i'm waiting for it to dry before i do the next coat. I also painted my "Dresser" and how lovely it looks now :) the paint h...

Freewheeling!

Hi guys! Remember me?  Well...I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't! For the past month I have been thoroughly immersed in the cycling world as we finally got The Bearded Wonder a bike!  Some of you will remember that i got my bike last year from freecycle, and i've been patiently waiting until The Bearded Wonder got his to go out exploring together. looking cool and unruffled, whilst i was red faced and out of breath! i look like a hamster with its cheeks stuffed!  A fortnight ago we ventured out on our first 10 mile ride , the problem with going anywhere out of our village is you will always have a hill to come back up! halfway up! A well deserved doughnut once we got home!  I also made a wee saddlebag from an old handbag pocket with clips attached to hold the puncture repair kit, just in case :) Last week saw us cycling to the next village, about 4 miles away, and the whole way was downhill, we've bee...
