Projects And A Round Up

Hi guys :)
Have you had a nice weekend?
Ours has been pretty  busy, just doing bits and pieces.

Yesterday we went off on a jolly to Durham, and a a beautiful steam engine came down the street while we were waiting for the bus! Isn't it fab? :D

In typical "touristy" fashion we had a peek a the cathedral

In other news..... ta-dah!
I'm knitting!
I went for years being unable to knit, well, slight lie as i could do the knit stitch, but nothing else, and i could never understand the patterns
So, i decided it was high time for me to learn properly!
On Friday i sat myself down, armed myself with needles and yarn and the internet and got learning.
This is how far i have got so far, it's (hopefully) going to be a jumper and i'm doing a mock cable pattern at the same time! It's surprisingly easy (Ooohh get me!)

I'm also starting a crocheted shawl for a friend who's just a baby :)

My carrots are finally sprouting and growing well!
And i also got some lovely freebies! If you go here there will be a link to VegetableSeeds.net and if you have a gardening related blog and link to them, they will give you a £10 gift voucher!

So this is what i got with mine, Leeks, Savoy cabbage, Broccoli, Lavender, Mint, Onions, Aster, Coneflowers and Calendula :)

I'm looking forward to getting everything planted out/ sown, fingers crossed this week!

What are you up to this week?

Don't forget, i'm hosting the next "What's Cooking?" blog hop tomorrow, so feel free to drop by and leave a recipe :)

  2. What a great steam engine! Good luck with the knitting - you will have to come join up with Yarn Along on Wednesdays now! I can't wait to see how you are progressing. I keep saying I will learn crochet on the internet, but just so much other stuff to do. Great about the free seeds - lots of planting coming soon!

Our Speaker Today

Hi guys :)  I am part of a community growers group, and over the next year or so we are going try and make our village look nicer and have an edible garden and flower beds.  Co Durham council are going to stop planting flowers in the flower beds on our main street, due to budget cuts, so we got the idea of putting things in the beds ourselves, including lots of herbs, and fruit bushes along the green. We want to really bring the community together and get them involved in growing things and generally making the village look nicer.  Yesterday, me and a two other members (and friends of course!) went on a wee jolly to Durham, for the Food Durham Annual Gathering. It is a marvellous initiative called The County Durham Food partnership.More info  here "Launched in May last year, the purpose is to work together for a more equitable, sustainable, fairer food system for County Durham providing access to food that is healthy for people and the planet." Drama!

Hi guys, sorry i haven't been around much this week, i've been a very bad blogging neighbour, but i will try and get around everyone's blogs this evening (This is my new mantra) What a bloody week! First, i was awoken by the Bearded Wonder in the early hours on Sunday morning having chest pains and violently shivering, my poor hubby has a heart murmur, so this was doubly worrying, though i distinctly remember saying "what do you expect me to do about it?" thinking he was just cold (i'm not a great thinker when i've just woken up lol) then grumpily told him to go make me a cup of tea to get his circulation going , then i sort of got my act together, 999 was called and i was instructed to give him 4 aspirin and wait for the ambulance to turn up. They came and checked him over and hooked him up to the heart monitor thingy whilst i rushed about like a headless chicken packing a bag, fully expecting to go to hospital, only to be told...

It's The Final Countdown!

Hi guys :)  Are you almost ready for Christmas?  Only five days left to go, and i can't wait  I adore Christmas, and i am always very laid back about the whole thing, i just don't see the point in stressing about it, but that's just me :) To be honest, we didn't even plan what we were going to eat until we finally went out shopping on Friday, we didn't buy a full turkey this year, as it's just the two of us, so we got a nice fat turkey leg and thigh joint for only £4.12, which will do us nicely and still make a few more meals out of it. I got one present early, a bread slicing guide, found in a charity shop and bought for the princely sum of £2 :D It's a bit of a funny present, for most people, but i really wanted it, as i'm terrible at slicing my home made bread and end up with a lot of half slices and crumbs  I've asked for a dehydrator for my birthday in January haha :)  I've been baking some doggy biscuits for the...
