I Mastered Bread!! Woohoo!

*Fanfare*
Ta-daahhh! I would like to introduce you to my very first yummy tasting bread!
Now, anyone who knows me and have followed me on TheUndomesticDiva knows that i have never managed to bake bread. It was either inedible, hard as a rock, or raw.
Well, yesterday that all changed when came across a recipe for slow cooked bread!

"What is this wizardry?"
"Slow cooked bread? That can't be right!"
So, i gave it a go. And my goodness did it work! The softest, crumbliest bread you could ever imagine!
I know it looks a bit pale, but you can brown it under the grill if you like
(i didn't want to, as i don't like hard crusts)
At the moment, we only have a mini oven, so i think that's partly why my recent bread hasn't worked (no idea why it didn't work in my old oven either mind you, but oh well!)

I think i might make some soup later, to complement it ;)

In other happy news, i found this adorable wee chicken salt shaker in a charity shop for 50p!
The little eggshell bit at the bottom separates too, i was hoping to use it as an egg cup but it's a bit too wide :( maybe it is supposed to be for sauces, or dip? Hmmm...

My herbs are doing nicely, the parsley seems to have suddenly taken over the pot! And to think i was worried it wouldn't grow! I've started to put them outside to harden off before i transplant them later in the week. I need the pots back! haha :)

My carrot seeds seem to be making no progress whatsoever :( Not even a single tiny sprout from any of the seeds :( which is why i want the pots back so i can try again and use those instead of egg cartons.
As i type this, i have just seen a very large Jackdaw making eyes at my herbs outside!
Gerroff!! They're mine!

I also made some lovely cozy slippers :) Though looking at this picture they seem a bit short at the back.

What are you doing today? :)

    1. It is soooo yummy! It took a couple of hours but it is so worth it, i think it is because of a slow heat that it works so well, and it can maintain a level heat. i think. haha :) xx

  2. Well done on the bread and for keeping going. I am trying to work on bread baking too at the moment, I am sure that once you get the knack it is easy, but it is the getting the knack bit that is tricky! So I think that it is great that you have persevered and are doing so well with it! xx

    1. Thank you :D I've been trying to master bread for years so this is a major thing for me, and i totally agree, it's just getting the knack that is the hardest part! haha xx

  3. Yay! Homemade bread with soup is the best! The herbs are coming along well and love the little chicken. Carrots do take a really long time to germinate and are hard to transplant. Maybe try them straight in the garden.

It's here!

Hear that? That's the sound of a hallelujah chorus playing in celebration  Yup.  You guessed right, a miracle has occurred, the paint has arrived! Six tins of painty fun! Though no wallpaper. And they forgot one of the roller tray sets. But never mind! Because most of it is here and for now that will keep me happy :) We've already started on the top half of the living room, a gorgeous clean white, and the bottom half will be started on next week in Country Blue, i'll do a wee tour when it's finished :) The reason it won't be done until next week is because the plaster needs at least 4 weeks curing before it can be painted on. Irritating when i just want to get on with it lol To keep myself busy i painted my little telephone table   and the basket below is halfway through being painted, i'm waiting for it to dry before i do the next coat. I also painted my "Dresser" and how lovely it looks now :) the paint h...

Garden stuff

Hi guys :) Thank your all your lovely comments about the Bearded Wonder, he is doing wonderfully and has even voluntarily made a new appointment at the doctors (will wonders ever cease?) With the lovely weather we have finally made it out into the garden, and got to work.  There is still so much to do to get it to where we want it but, progress is progress no matter how small :) The Bearded Wonder has dug out the path, and we are going to border it in an attempt at keeping the weeds and grass at bay, and put either gravel or pebbles in the gaps. I have cobbled together a frame, and am going to put down cardboard, newspaper and mulch to block down the weeds, and with any luck by next year it should be diggable, and shall be used for herbs and above ground growing plants such as salads and brassicas etc  We also got a lovely new bed from a friend, so our old Divan bed has had it's fabric sides ripped out and shall be pressed into service as raised bed...

Bits and Pieces

Hi all :) Life is going at a gentle pace for once, which will probably soon change once our paint etc is delivered (fingers crossed for tomorrow!!) and i have been enjoying a bit of crocheting :)  Like this adorable tea cozy, which i am immensely pleased with Working on the next one The colours reminded me of Cornish-Ware  (Handsome Bearded Wonder in the background :)  ) I also made a little wreath, it's rather skinny as it's an old embroidery hoop , but it works.  I've also got a "new" kitchen dresser, as you know i'm the mistress of improvisation ;)   The computer table and the pantry shelves are now happily residing in the kitchen, and shall look much nicer when they are painted. As our kitchen is so skinny this was the best picture i could get and i had to lean over the sink to get it hahaha :D   I'm also going to take off the doors and have some form of curtain going across instead
