I've got a swimming pool!

Heh. Fooled you didn't i?
I wish! but no...i was digging out the garden and found a paddling pool! it's completely wedged in under the soil:( and worst of all The Bearded Wonder won't be back for a while so i can't even ask him to help!
I have absolutely no idea how i am going to get it out, i don't know how big it is so can't really dig around it... hmmm.

~In other happy news i did manage to transplant the parsley and basil, the basil looks slightly worse for wear, it's roots hadn't established as well as the parsley, but never mind, i'm sure it will survive :)

And i took a quick peek at the potatoes, they are starting to grow full roots now so i added another layer of potting soil :)

That's it really... not a lot else to report haha!

What are you up to today? :)

  1. I never get much luck with Basil outside, so I tend to keep them inside, we planted spuds a while back, so we can dig them up before we move, if we ever do that is xx

    1. I must admit, this is the first time i've put them outside, i normally grow them on the windowsill but i decided to be bold, it's not too much of a loss if they don't survive, luckily :) xx

  3. Don't you just hate finding things buried in the garden! It is so annoying when you are trying to make a new area. I hope that you can work around it in the meantime. xx

  4. I enjoyed your blog, you did fol me I thought you were building a swimming pool. You could make a lovely pond out of your paddling pool as long as it doesnt have holes in it. I made a pond last summer and have recently got some fish to go in it.

Our Speaker Today

Hi guys :)  I am part of a community growers group, and over the next year or so we are going try and make our village look nicer and have an edible garden and flower beds.  Co Durham council are going to stop planting flowers in the flower beds on our main street, due to budget cuts, so we got the idea of putting things in the beds ourselves, including lots of herbs, and fruit bushes along the green. We want to really bring the community together and get them involved in growing things and generally making the village look nicer.  Yesterday, me and a two other members (and friends of course!) went on a wee jolly to Durham, for the Food Durham Annual Gathering. It is a marvellous initiative called The County Durham Food partnership.More info  here "Launched in May last year, the purpose is to work together for a more equitable, sustainable, fairer food system for County Durham providing access to food that is healthy for people and the planet." Drama!

Hi guys, sorry i haven't been around much this week, i've been a very bad blogging neighbour, but i will try and get around everyone's blogs this evening (This is my new mantra) What a bloody week! First, i was awoken by the Bearded Wonder in the early hours on Sunday morning having chest pains and violently shivering, my poor hubby has a heart murmur, so this was doubly worrying, though i distinctly remember saying "what do you expect me to do about it?" thinking he was just cold (i'm not a great thinker when i've just woken up lol) then grumpily told him to go make me a cup of tea to get his circulation going , then i sort of got my act together, 999 was called and i was instructed to give him 4 aspirin and wait for the ambulance to turn up. They came and checked him over and hooked him up to the heart monitor thingy whilst i rushed about like a headless chicken packing a bag, fully expecting to go to hospital, only to be told...

It's The Final Countdown!

Hi guys :)  Are you almost ready for Christmas?  Only five days left to go, and i can't wait  I adore Christmas, and i am always very laid back about the whole thing, i just don't see the point in stressing about it, but that's just me :) To be honest, we didn't even plan what we were going to eat until we finally went out shopping on Friday, we didn't buy a full turkey this year, as it's just the two of us, so we got a nice fat turkey leg and thigh joint for only £4.12, which will do us nicely and still make a few more meals out of it. I got one present early, a bread slicing guide, found in a charity shop and bought for the princely sum of £2 :D It's a bit of a funny present, for most people, but i really wanted it, as i'm terrible at slicing my home made bread and end up with a lot of half slices and crumbs  I've asked for a dehydrator for my birthday in January haha :)  I've been baking some doggy biscuits for the...
