Ta-dah!

Hi guys :)
The weather was lovely today, so i sent out The Bearded Wonder to strim the grass. I don't go near the strimmer. They are dangerous! Ask me how i know... ;)

It was a nice, pottery sort of day, nice enough to wear a skirt, so i went out and attempted to unearth the paving stone path in the middle of the garden, but it is so overgrown i'll need a proper spade to get rid of it all instead of a teeny trowel, which is useless.
I also planted some potatoes from kitchen scraps, whether they will grow or not i have no idea, but fingers firmly crossed!

I made a strawberry cheesecake thingy, but without the cheese, and i got single cream instead of whipping cream so it was quite sloppy, but it still tastes lovely (Eating it as we speak)

And lastly.... a huge ta-dah moment!
I finished my cardigan!!!!

Yes i know it is a top.... it was SUPPOSED to be a cardigan, but i made the panels far too big and, quite frankly, couldn't be bothered to undo them and start again so i sewed one over the other and turned it into a top instead! Which is why the middle panel looks a bit bulky and makes me look pregnant
(i'm not). I'm calling it a tummy warmer ;)

What have you been up to today?

    1. Because last time i tried to use one the wire got caught and i lifted it up to untangle it and didn't realize i still had my finger on the button and pushed it by accident. it ended up cutting into my knee about 20 times and stung like holy hell! I've still got a faint scar lol :)
Which is why i let the hubby do it :P

Our Speaker Today

Hi guys :)  I am part of a community growers group, and over the next year or so we are going try and make our village look nicer and have an edible garden and flower beds.  Co Durham council are going to stop planting flowers in the flower beds on our main street, due to budget cuts, so we got the idea of putting things in the beds ourselves, including lots of herbs, and fruit bushes along the green. We want to really bring the community together and get them involved in growing things and generally making the village look nicer.  Yesterday, me and a two other members (and friends of course!) went on a wee jolly to Durham, for the Food Durham Annual Gathering. It is a marvellous initiative called The County Durham Food partnership.More info  here "Launched in May last year, the purpose is to work together for a more equitable, sustainable, fairer food system for County Durham providing access to food that is healthy for people and the planet." I've got a swimming pool!

Heh. Fooled you didn't i? I wish! but no...i was digging out the garden and found a paddling pool! it's completely wedged in under the soil:( and worst of all The Bearded Wonder won't be back for a while so i can't even ask him to help! I have absolutely no idea how i am going to get it out, i don't know how big it is so can't really dig around it... hmmm.  ~In other happy news i did manage to transplant the parsley and basil, the basil looks slightly worse for wear, it's roots hadn't established as well as the parsley, but never mind, i'm sure it will survive :)  And i took a quick peek at the potatoes, they are starting to grow full roots now so i added another layer of potting soil :)  That's it really... not a lot else to report haha! What are you up to today? :)

DIY Washing Machine, Leeks and Banana Fertilizer

The forecast said it would be fine, Perfect drying for laundry time. Strip the beds, collect the clothes, Into the machine the first wash goes. The colours separated from the white, Why do socks disappear from sight? Pegs at the ready, machine finished spin, Hanging out clothes about to begin. All of a sudden it starts to rain, Carry the clothes back in again. Wait awhile and hope it will stop. Is it worth sorting another lot? Mary Rose Hi guys :) I finally got round to buying a washing machine! Ok, so not in the usual sense of the word. I bought a plunger! We don't own a washing machine, our old one conked out completely before we moved and we can't afford to replace it. So, i do our washing by hand.  It's not a hardship, we don't generate much washing, and we wear most things more than once unless it is stained, and as much as i love it (Much quicker, no electricity, relatively eco friendly) it does take its toll on the hands, e...
